BASE
Stat by stringing 4 x4mm beads. Tie into a circle and take your needle though a bead away from your knot. This becomes your top bead.

Pick up 3 beads and take your needle back through the bead you were just exiting. Work your needle around the beads until you are exiting bead 2 (below)

Pick up 3 more beads, 4, 5 and 6 and take your needle back through bead 2, work it around so that it comes out of bead 6. The side Bead (below)


Pick up another 3 beads, 7, 8, 9, and work your way round until you are exiting 7 (below)
Pick up beads 10, and 11, take your needle down the side bead in the first 4 beads you strung.
Pick up beads 12, and 13 and take your needle back through bead 11 around until you are exiting bead 13.
Pick up beads 14, 15 and 16, work your way back through bead 13, along through bead 14.
Pick up beads 17 and 18 and work your way through hiding beads 10,14 and 18.
The last 2 beads you pick up are 19, 20. Work your needle through 8 and 18 and up through 19 to start next row.
Keep working creating sets of 4 until you are about 1 inch from your desired length.
Top Embelishment
With your thread exiting top left hand bead in the illustration above, pick up 2 col A, 1 Col B, 2 Col A. Take your thread over diagonally and through a base bead, repeat to the bottom of your row, then repeat the same pattern on the remaining two rows..
2nd Pattern Line
Pick up 2 Col A seed beads, take your needle through your central seed bead, pick up a further 2 Col A seed beads and Zig Zag back through the base bead to start your next cross.
